Our Programs
Handwriting without Tears
From grades, pre-K through 6th, “Handwriting without Tears” is the most effective curriculum for teaching handwriting to all children. Letter formulation and cursive handwriting is taught using multi-sensory techniques and development of consistent habits.
The Listening Program
A music-based auditory stimulation method that improves the brain’s ability to process sound without distortion. This allows the brain to better perform the auditory skills needed to effectively listen, learn, and communicate. Individuals who benefit from this program are those experiencing difficulties in listening, sensory processing, learning, language, reading, attention, memory, social interaction, communication behavior, and cognition.
Interactive Metronome
A brain-based rehabilitation assessment and training program developed to directly improve the processing abilities that affect attention, motor planning, and sequencing. Individuals appropriate for this program are those experiencing motor planning and sequencing problems, speech and language delays, motor and sensory disorders, learning disabilities, and various cognitive and physical deficits.
Feeding and Swallowing Program
Abbott & Burkhart Therapy’s program provides comprehensive, family based treatment for children with feeding and or swallowing difficulties where the child’s growth may be impeded. Our therapeutic philosophy consists of a multidisciplinary approach facilitated by both an Occupational Therapist and Speech and Language Pathologist. This combination of supportive therapies incorporates the child’s medical, developmental, behavioral, sensory as well as oral motor feeding issues. We provide individualized treatments depending on the needs of the child.
Feeding Assessment
The feeding assessments are available for children with a wide range of challenges related to feeding and swallowing difficulties. A comprehensive assessment is completed to measure the needs of the client prior to establishing a treatment plan.
